1 Prize in Architect Competition 2001
Randers Architecture Award 2001 and 2006
Østervold was a traffic hub in Randers, but with a unique large open and axially space which differs from the city’s dense winding streets and small scale places. The city wanted to transform this into a more livable, attractive, and inviting centre for all in Randers.
Our winning proposal distinguished itself with a comprehensive answer of exceptionally high quality. Not only about giving space to pedestrian and public life, but also use the unique topography creating plateaus and spaces stepping up to the top with the opportunity to overlook the city. Furthermore taking on a holistic and integrated approach, shaping a new shared space solouting for a more multi flexible use of Østervold.
Answering the city of Randers ambition for a lively city centre that is also important, we designed a Scandinavian modern and representative architecture, but in only three materials – granite, steel and wood.
