Our proposal was to create a park that works as a central gathering and a living room for Neugraben, where the park becomes a part of the community

2 Prize in Architect Competition 2006

Neugraben will become a popular residential area in the Hamburg region, due to its central location, between the train station and the unique nature reserve Vogelkamp Neugraben.

The urban framework proposed by Lorenzen Mayer and Becht was designed in a way that guarantees the  surrounding landscape linked with the new planning and connected with the new structure, for instance to preserve a central park which serve the new Neighbourhood.

BECHT´s  proposal for the park was in line with the masterplan, to design it to be as accessible as possible, meaning that it is open to the public, the neighbourhood, offices, school and surrounding institution. A design, by contrast, takes as its starting point the needs of the area, improving connections between neighbouring locations and creating a “green lung” within the district.

It’s a new meeting place for young and old, where you can play football, skate or grab a coffee and a healthy snack, or meet with friends, or even just sit down to check your emails.
